Hope for Your Relationship
Is your relationship on the brink? Is breaking up a very real possibility? Or is it just that your relationship is not as good as it could be - as good as you want it to be? Well, take heart. Whatever you are facing, there is hope. Whatever is happening, rest assured, there is hope.
Relationships evolve in many ways – sometimes you are aware and can see it happen day-by-day. Other times the shift is more subtle. You are so busy – too busy to notice. Then one day BAM! You’ve got a relationship issue that never in a million years thought could happen to you. Although your situation is as unique as your relationship - we’ve all been there in one form or another in our own way.
The Relationship Goal
The goal is to get back to a healthy relationship.
Perhaps you are caught in a dysfunctional routine with limited options apparent to you. Well, there is hope. Somewhere inside you there is a small voice pointing the way out of the darkness and into the light. The voice is guiding you to a ray of hope.
According to Helen Keller, nothing can be done without out hope and confidence. So when the world is crashing down around you that’s when it’s most important to have hope. Your goal could be right around the corner; there is no way of knowing.
At times like these many people seek out their faith for strength and hope. Others dig deep inside and conjure up all of their positive energy and focus it toward their goal. With hope, you will find it; without hope, it is likely that you will not. Hope opens pathways while despair shuts them down. In times of sadness and loss this is truly the case where you need to “be it” before you actually “feel it.” Begin to shift and reorient your thinking toward hope for your relationship.
Take Your Time in Your Relationship
Proceed at your own pace – even if it is just a little a time. Lay the foundation of hope; then continue to build upon that foundation. It gets easier as the momentum builds. Think back over what has been happening over the past few months. What one behavior can YOU change? What one thing can you do today – a favor, a kind word, an errand – one thing that will begin the shift toward courtesy and kindness? How can you soften the tone in your relationship? How can you show how much you value your relationship?
What Do You Want in Your Relationship?
Begin today by identifying a situation where you harbor negative feelings. Why do you feel the way you do? Get to the bottom of it. What do you expect? Is it realistic? What would it take to actually get it? Always think of your own part – the one person who you can change. How can you convey your feelings – gently?
Isolate a ray of hope. Then build upon that hope with other positive examples and focus your energy on your relationship and how good it could be. Take action today. Take action tomorrow.
